Today, I have joined imagekind community. It's a website for buying, selling and creating art. You can browse thru new art prints and posters from thousands of unique and independent artists around the world. Shop for framed and canvas prints. Or, create your own work of art and frame photos of your own. If you're an artist, you can sell your fine art and photographs as giclee prints, which I'm planning on doing. Here's the link to my profile page. It's still a work in progress (like everything else) but I'll get there eventually:)

I'm sure many you will disagree on the fact that you can in fact savour a cigarette, but I'm convinced, certain actually, that you can.

This is my first submission to IF in a while, but I'm hoping to stay for a while this time:)

Ifona is a seller on etsy. She has a lot of very cool things at her store like the striped scarfs, but she also has these awesome hand sewn bags with cats on them. I've been dying for one since this summer when I first saw them on her blog. I have only recently hooked up with her thru the POLetsy team forum and I'm very very excited because I'll be getting one of her bags. Here's it is, not only is it purple, but it also has a kitty on it. Love it, love it, love it:

In exchange I'm sending her a portrait of her kitty cat Aniksi ViaAppia that I've finished today.

Ifona gave me the best complement today. She said that when she first opened my email with a photo of this portrait she thought it was a picture of her cat not a painting. I'm really glad that she's pleased. And I can't wait until I receive my bag!!!!

Thanksgiving just passed a couple of days ago, everybody is decorating and shopping for Christmas and I'm trying to stay a little ahead of the times and here's my New Year's Baby in Belly. It'll be available on maternity products soon.

POLEtsy which is a group of Polish Etsians has asked me to do a demonstration on watercolor portraits. I did it on this portrait of my sister and I (25 years ago!!!) that I've finished last week. Click here if you want check it out:)

My mother in law has been very successful with pastel pet portraits. (Check out her fan page here: Julie's Creations). I know that I've already had one attempt at drawing my kitty cat Jack with pastels and I didn't feel like it was very successful, so I've decided to do it again.
This time I chose black paper as it seems to be my favorite for pastels. I took pictures as I went. Here it is:

As always I started with a sketch and then I went off to blocking off some major areas:
After that I kept blocking off more areas, kept adding colors and blending them in, layer after layer.
The next step was to add in the eyes. They really made him look like himself and gave life to the drawing. At the same time, I kept refining the fur, adding in more colors and blending them in.
The final step was to add some details like the extra sparkle in the eye and whiskers and refine some other spots like the ear. And voila!
It really ended up looking like Jack and I'm very proud of it. I think Jack likes it too since he kept on popping on the desk, trying to check out the progress and help out with some smearing and blending of the colors.
Poor thing woke up sneezing all over the place and is sick this morning. I hope it passes very soon and we don't have to go to see the vet. I think Jack hates going to the vet the most out of all the things in this whole entire world. Have a wonderful Sunday everybody.

Here's my first attempt at self portrait. I worked off a picture that my husband took of me a couple of years ago. We were waiting on somebody and I didn't even know that he snapped it.
I don't think this attempt is very successful. I feel like I ended up looking more like an angry Madonna than myself. I'm definitely going to try again but I'm going to use this drawing as my avatar for now, just because I don't have time to work on another one right away.

Here's my latest pastel drawing. Some people call it drawings and some paintings, I'm a little confused but I feel like it's more of a drawing than a painting since I didn't use a brush or anything else other than the pastels and my fingers. I called it Victoria since it was inspired by a picture from VS catalog. I've changed it by closing her mouth, changing her hair style and such but she's not straight out of my imagination. The pose is pretty much straight out of the catalog except for the fact that the bra went "missing".
I'm going to put her up for sale in my brand new store:)
I so so so hope it takes off!!!!

I may be completely crazy but I just opened another store on Etsy - Feeling Artsy Studio - where I'm planning on selling my original artwork, prints and also custom artwork like portraits and such. It'll take a while to get it filled up and I'm not sure when I'm going to work on it, but I'm not worried about it. I'll have lots of time to sleep when I'm dead.
My other store is not really full with lots and lots of items but I wanted a separate one for artwork, sort of like a niche. I'm not sure whether I needed one or not. We'll see how it does.

Even though, I'm not a football fan, after I've finished the Who Dat Baby in Belly, I thought I could do one that was holding a football. Like a little future football player. Or just a baby that was brought to the game while still in their mother's belly.
Here's what I've come up with:

And then, I just couldn't stop myself and started with the teams. I've got 2 down so far: LSU (I just love their colors plus my husband is a Cajun, so if I'm to choose any team, it'll have to be LSU) and Florida (I really like their colors too and when you live in Georgia like I do, there's a lot of Florida Gators around). Here they are: a future Tiger and a future Gator:

With the football season in full, I'm also thinking of going on with this theme and adding other teams. For now, I'm a little stuck and still trying to figure out how to use Georgia's colors. One of their colors is black and it just blends in with the outlines making the design look less crisp.

I recently went on a trip to Louisiana and everybody just loves the Saints over there. That got me inspired a little to tweak one of my babies in belly into a Saint baby.

As always, I'm going to put it on maternity shirts. They'll be available in my store shortly.

So it turns out that my husband has not always been the 6 foot tall man that I've known. He was a very cute boy at some point. I've decided to do a portrait of him 25 years ago. I did it in watercolors on Arches cold press paper. I've taken some pictures as I went. They're not the best quality since I did it with my phone but you'll get an idea of what the progress looked like.

Step 1:
After a quick outline sketch I blocked in the colors lightly.

Step 2:
I continued working on it and kept adding color and detail as I went. I only used 2 brushes throughout: size 10 and 6, I think. I really like those brushes with gel grips.

Step 3:
I continued adding more details and at the end I added a little bit of a background.

And here a picture that also includes the original photo that I worked off of. This way you can go ahead and critique and judge as you please.

I've been thinking about it forever now but I've finally started working on it. My blog is in dire need of rewamping. I want to add new pages, get rid of silly widgets that nobody uses anyway and finally get back to blogging on a regular basis.
I really have no idea what I'm doing, neither do I have any knowledge of html, so I expect it to be a lenghty and painful process. I guess the main thing is to keep on tracking:) Have a wonderful Sunday everybody.
Any and all comments are welcome.

Babies in belly have become quite popular lately. I'm very very excited about that. So, to keep up with the seasons and what's going on around us, here's my newest one:

Tuesday, August 3, 2010

I turned my computer on this morning and went look at my shop and I realized that I got hundreds of views on some items, got a couple emails from people asking about other sizes and colors and it seemed a little suspcious since I get one of those maybe once a month. It took some investigating but last night - I, me, myself, moi was on the Front Page of Etsy!!!!!:
Thanks to this awesome advertisement, the shirt sold:) At this time, the most appropriate comment I can think of to all this excitement is AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

The coupon is actually good for any cafepress store so if you know somebody else with a store too, you can use it at their store as well:)

Cafe Press is having Eclipse Design Contest. The prize is $500!!!
Here's the link to their blog: Head’s up! An astronomical number of Eclipse “site”ings.: "With the up-coming release of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse movie, things are really looking up in the CafePress excitement.
First, we have our Eclipse T-shirt Design Contest. You can win $500 American Express Gift Cards for WOWing our judges with cool designs in several categories. Win or lose, your designs will also make their way"
I'm a fan of the Twilight saga so I wanted to participate and come up with something original. Here's what I've submitted:

I'm also hoping to come up with something more artsy if time permits before the contest is over. Let me know what you think.

Yesterday, it was Lorenzo, today I found something else also really cool - a Harry Potter charm bracelet. I really like it, so I'm posting it here even though Chirping Cat is pretty much, my direct competition in the jewelry sales market. This is a great idea and a very pretty bracelet plus Chirping Cat is a fellow Atlantian so I feel good about doing this and supporting local community.

I love Harry Potter (can't wait for the next movie to come out later on this year!!!) but if you're not a fan, she's got other items you might like: Starbucks bracelet and earring, candy bars charm bracelet, Alice in Wonderland, etc. Take a look, here's a link to the store: Chirping Cat Studios

And readers: I promise to get back on my artsy side soon and start painting and posting my creations again. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy exploring others' work with me.

I found Lorenzo the Cat on Joann Biondi has had an awesome idea with the prints, cards etc of a Main Coon Lorenzo. I'm not sure if they're done in photoshop or does she actaully dress the cat up. Cant' imaging that ever happening with my cat. Just one Santa hat idea for Christmas cards turned out to be nn impossible task.
Either way, I absolutely love all of Lorenzo's fashion phots. Not only because Lorenzo could be my Jack's  brother, but also because it's truly awesome and genius really. Here he is for all to see:

Also, here's the link to the shop: Lorenzo on Etsy

I've been away from blogging for a while now. Main reason for that has been the fact that I haven't been creating. And the reason for that has been the fact that I haven't been the healthiest. For some reason, when I don't feel well the artsy feeling is still there but the energy to follow it thru, is not. It feels a lot easier to just waste time on watching movies or browse the internet or just do other things like that, that are more mechanical.
Either way, I'm back to blogging, I've decided that I miss it and I'm going to blog whether I have something to show of my own or whether I'm just to blabber about things that I find interesting enough to share. I have no idea whether anybody actually reads my blog, so at the last book club meeting, I was a little surprised and pumped at the same time when Julie and Rachel have told me that I need to update my blog. They've been checking it out??!! Cool, awesome, fabulous!!! So thank you girls for giving me a little push to want to do it again. Coming next: Lorenzo the cat.

I've been gone for a while and haven't been posting. Sorry. I wasn't really slacking though. My sister got me hooked on jewlery making and here's our first piece. Jewelry making is really neat because it's learning something completely new but at the same time it's still very creative and artsy. We started a brand new shop on etsy and are hoping to list at least a couple unique items a week. We are hoping to use new and old parts to make it more Earth friendly and at the same time to make our pieces more unique.
Etsy: Your place to buy & sell all things handmade
In the midst of all that I'm not giving up on art at all. I just haven't had the time to keep up with the postings. I'm hoping to catch up sometime soon.

Last Thursday I went to another Artful Arses meeting. I had a blast as always. This time the theme was acrylics. I didn't have enough time to finish my painting but here is how far I've gotten with it. The meeting was on Earth Day so I wanted to do something relevant. Now, I'm debating if I should finish it or drop it and move on to something else. I have to say, I don't really like working with acrylics too much.

I've been out of touch for a while lately. Somewhat by choice, but mostly by my condition. After having a bunch of tests run on me and still not knowing what's wrong has been unnerving enough towards I can't concentrate on art or really anything else. I took some time off and went to Disney for 5 days, I thought it'd be a great way to relax, take my mind off things and just have fun. I know a lot of people will disagree but I have to say it: Disney World sucks!!! The parks are gorgeous but most of the attractions are filled with moving manekins that may have been state of the art technology a long time ago but now feel like Chuckie relatives. I think if Walt Disney woke up today, he'd be very very dissapointed that the park has not really gone forward with times but all of the attractions got stuck back in the 50's and 70's or whenever they were created. Even the new rides like the Toy Story 4D failed to be exciting.
Anyway, because I was so much dissapointed by Disney, I ended up coming home early and having an extra day off to just do nothing and be at home. This morning I discovered Threadless and have promtly joined the side. They have some really gorgeous designs. Here's one that I really really liked:
our dream - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

This week's Illustration Friday topic is Dip. Here's mine. I've come up with this idea as soon as I saw the topic a week ago but as always I was too busy doing everything else and I'm barely making the deadline this Thursday night. I have to say, I was 100% inspired by DWTS.
Also, I'm loving this black paper. It's Strathmore. I got it at some dead lady's house on an estate sale. I need to find me some more. I'm also still totally in love with pastels. It's hard to believe it's only been a month since I've explored this wonderful media for the first time.

Sunday, April 4, 2010

The theme of our next AA meeting will be acrylics. I checked out some books from the library to find out more about the media and read something cool in one of them. The book is Dynamic Acrylics by Soraya French that I would like to post a quote here: "There is a vast difference between merely being able to paint and being an artist. The latter has the ability to turn the ordinary into something extraordinary". I think it's a very neat thought and I hope you find it inspirational, like I did.
In the mean time, I'm still in love with pastels. I can't believe it's only been a couple of weeks since I've tried them for the first time! Feels like I've been missing out for years. Here's my "extraordinary" of the day. This painting was inpired by a teeth whitening add from a local newspaper.
This is my first time working on black paper. It's feels a little upside down, inside out but very much fun at the same time. Enjoy your Sunday and Happy Easter everybody!!!!

The more I play with pastels, the more I like this media. It's funny how I was resisting it for so long and now I am ready to do so much more with it. Here's my latest greatest:)
Phew, 3 posts in one day? I'm on a roll today. Time to go shower:)

I framed my last cross stitch. Now the question is: where do I put a new hole in a wall.

Sorry Everybody for not having posted anything out here lately. I just simply have not had anything to post as far as my art is concerned. I went on a ski / snowboard trip from which I still haven't fully recovered. I have been job searching (I really need to get out from where I'm at right now), had a 4 hour interview yesterday and I'm waiting on an offer next week:)
I have made some new Stork Babies with some other country flags on them but I'm not going to post them up here again since everybody has seen them a million times. Let me know though if you're looking for a specific one that's not out there yet.
This weekend I'm planning on getting back with my artsy side and I'll post stuff here once I'm finished. That is if I don't get distracted by the absolutely gorgeous weather out there!!!
Have a wonderful weekend everybody.

Friday, March 19, 2010

Last night we had our second Artful Arses meeting. The theme this time was PASTELS. I had two ideas as far as what I was going to work on and I have even made sketches ahead of time to make it easier on myself during the meeting. But, of course, between trying to get out of the house on time yesterday morning, feeding the cat, fixing lunch, taking the recyclables out and everything else, I forgot to bring them with me. So then I had to improvise and come up with something, anything else to paint. Here's what I came up with:
This is just some flowers. Plants are kind of hard for me because I really don't like drawing still life too much. Plus this was my second time working with pastels ever.
My second drawing/painting was an attempt at my sister's portrait. Unfortunatelly it doesn't look much like her. I guess actually looking at her would have helped. Instead I had a great time indulding in drinking wine and enjoying getting my fingers dirty with pastel dust. Either way, here she is:
Now, off to a four day trip of skiing. You all enjoy your weekend, whatever you end up doing!

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

I very much enjoy cross stitching. I usually do it while watching a movie at the same time. The only thing is, it takes forever and ever. I finally finished this one last night:
I started it some time last summer. So yeah, it took more than half a year and it is not big. Just about 5x7. It was a set that I got. They're really neat becasue they come with everything you'll need to complete the pattern. Now I just need to go get me a frame:)

Sunday, March 14, 2010

I may have been slacking on my art but I've really busy sewing lately. I'm working on a dress for myself that I've redone about 15 times already. I've also learned how to make these flowers out of fabric. I think the "proper" name for them is yoyo's. And I've made these two tops with them:

Originally I meant to sell them on etsy but I really like how they came out and I'm keeping them. I'm getting one and my sister the other. My husband told me that if I continue keeping everything that I make that I like, I will never make any money and he's probably right but I just couldn't resist. I also have no idea what will happen with them in the wash and didn't want to dissapoint anybody. What do you think? Would you want to wear one of these too? I'm considering making more.

Saturday, March 13, 2010

Monday Artday has a challenge called Circus. I really don't like Circus, especially the parts with the animals. However, I do love Cirque de Soleil. Those people do the craziest things with their bodies. So I've tried to capture one of the Allegria acts, but I'm not really sold on it. Here it is:
I did it with crayons that my fellow Artful Arse Rachel gave me for Christmas. They are pretty hard and you can't really layer one color on top of another. So I went back and tried to enhance colors with markers but that made it look too dramatic so I quit.
I haven't submit it on Monday Artday. I may try to start over and do better on the second attempt. I'll keep you posted.
A little off the topic, but still on circus. If you like reading "Water for Elephants" by Sarah Gruen is a very neat story about circus back in the early 1900's. It's somewhat sad but it's a good book.

HELLO 1000!

I don't know who you were but welcome 1000th visitor! Or at least 1000th since I'd installed the counter:) I know that this is not a big deal to some people because they get that much traffic daily but this is a big deal to me. So, welcome and thanks for stopping by.

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

I just made my first Monday Artday posting. It's a watercolor pencil sketch. The topic was Snow Games.
Here's a true story: when I was a little girl and then a bigger girl there was this awesome Italian skier - Alberto Tomba. We used to watch him compete all the time. For years, Alpine skiing was my dream job. So here I am. Alpine skiing is still a dream. And maybe I'm not the next Tomba, but an avid skier for sure.
I'm actually hoping to hit the slopes this weekend. I'm sick at the moment, thus a quick sketch (no energy for a longer painting) and I just need to get back to bed to recover by the weekend.

I joined Monday Artday!!! It is a blog of over 500 members. A challenge is given each Monday for the members to illustrate and they post their work on the blog. There's a weekly winner too. I'm really excited to be a part of Monday Artday community. I've been following that blog for a while now and they have some awesome artists posting over there.
They have 2 challenges going at a time. Right now they are: winter games and circus. Hmmm..... where do I start?

Sunday, February 28, 2010

My cat Jack loves all sorts of bags. Looking out of them gives him a whole new perspective on things.
This is my first time working with pastels which gave me a whole new perspective on how really difficult this media is.

Saturday, February 27, 2010

Phew! I finally finished. It took me forever for some reason. What do you think?
Also, welcome new followers:) I'm very glad you joined!!!

Friday, February 26, 2010

I found something pretty cool today. is a website where they have poses for quick figure sketches. The uncool thing about it, is that they are not "real" people look alikes, the models are more like straight out of the Bodies exhibition. The cool thing is that you don't have to pay the model fee and you can do any time you want to or can for a long as pleases you.
You can set it up so that the poses change every 30, 45, 60 or 90 seconds. It's a great way to practice. It's also available for iphones (free!):)
Here is what I was doing for the last 6 minutes or so. I had it set to 45 seconds and I didn't skip any poses. I switched from pencil to charcoal towards the end. Give it a try!

Friday, February 19, 2010

I'm "cheating" on this one because I have finished it for something else a couple of moths ago, but I'm making IF on the very first day of topic announcement:)
Also, if you like it a lot, this design and similar ones (with other flags) are for sale in my cafe press store.

Thursday, February 18, 2010

Here it is. Tried a little little bit of a smile:)

Other than this, I've been a real real slacker art wise. I need to get back on doing IF but I just won't make it this week. (again) :(
I have however been working on some sewing - tank tops actually. I know we're in the middle of the winter. It's freezing outside. But I'm just ready for spring. I'll put some photos up here once I've finally gotten around to taking them. Stay put.

Sunday, February 14, 2010

I've been really really slacking as far as painting is concerned. Not that I've been lying around doing nothing, but have been really busy with everything else. Aga's asked me several times about Aries. I've had it sketched out forever and I still have a long way to go but here's a proof that I have started working on it:

Tuesday, February 2, 2010

I think I'm finished. I've been back and forth with it. That's an awesome thing about using a tablet, I can keep redoing everything without having to worry about making it worse, but then again, with endless possibilities I'm not sure when to stop:)
Aga, Aries is next:)

Monday, February 1, 2010

Here's where I got with it today. I'm still not sold on it. It still needs work but I think it's getting there. Let me know what your opinion is?

Sunday, January 31, 2010

I've finally gotten back to work on my Zodiac series. Here's Virgo. I want her to be way softer and more delcate than Libra was. Not sure whether I should darken the dress or leave it light as is? I definetely need to redo the hair. For some reason it never comes out right the first time around.

Saturday, January 30, 2010

I've decided to close down my ebay store. I've had it for several years now and it's been a good source of extra income but it's been taking at least a couple of hours of my time daily. Between that, my art and a full time job, I've pretty much haven't had any life and have had been exausted forever plus I've really not have had much time to truly spread my wings in doing what I really love, which is feeling artsy. I've decided I need to give something up. I'd love to give up my job, but I still need to eat, pay mortgage and all the other bills that come with living our everyday life. Thus, I've decided to shut down my ebay store.
I have bad (sad) feeling about it since it took me a long time to get it properly going, organized and furnished with competitive invetory, but at the same time I feel releved and lighter somehow as more and more things dissapear from my closet full of inventory.
For the last two weeks, I've been working really hard on sales, packing, shipping etc, which is the reason for not posting any new paintings/ drawings lately. I've gone from over 200 multiple item listings to less than 50. Right now, everything in the store is on sale. All items have always been for less than 50% of retail, but now most of them are cheaper than what I've gotten them for. It's all lingerie. Let me know if you are interested in getting anything. I promise a steal:) Here's the link: MY EBAY STORE

Friday, January 29, 2010

Last night at our meeting the theme was paper. I went with card making as did all of the other members but one who decided on papier mache (they're to get on with blogging themselves - I'll make sure to paste links in here). I made 3 cards, one of them is a card / envelope in one and I just can't figure out how to scan it so unfortunatelly you won't be able to see it. But here are the other two:

I used stamps for the first time (got a bunch of used ones on eBay) and they are total fun. I get the stamping craziness now:)
